Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sitaware?

SitaWare is a software suite from the Danish company Systematic that offers C4ISR solutions (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) for the entire operational area.
It supports command and control at all levels – from highly mobile forces, whether mounted or dismounted, to stationary command posts.
SitaWare Headquarters is intended for the command post and offers the most extensive range of functions of all products within the suite.
SitaWare Frontline is used on vehicles; it is specifically optimized for mobile operations at the company and platoon levels.
The individual soldier is digitally integrated into the command network via SitaWare Edge.

The SitaWare Software Development Kit (SDK) is a collection of tools, programming libraries, and documentation that enables software developers to extend and customize the functionality of the SitaWare product suite.

Due to the custom development of the add-on, a wide range of data sources is supported. Typical sources include:

  • Databases (SQL, MongoDB, SQLite)
  • APIs (REST, SOAP)
  • Text files (JSON, XML, CSV)
  • Message Queues and Streams (MQTT, Kafka)
  • Nato Ground Vehicle Architecture (DDS)

The development time for an add-on depends heavily on the scope of functionality, integration points (e.g., data sources, authentication), and quality requirements (e.g., testing, documentation, UI/UX).

Development of a prototype or proof of concept can be completed within 1 to 3 weeks. Experience shows that a simple add-on with a clearly defined scope requires approximately 1 to 3 months. For more complex requirements—such as dynamic user interfaces, permission management, or cross-system interfaces—development can extend to between 3 and 12 months. You will receive a precise estimate of the development duration once the requirements have been gathered.

We calculate the cost of developing an add-on based on a daily rate per developer. Depending on the scope of the project, we offer either a transparent fixed price or a flexible billing model based on actual effort. As a rough guide, smaller add-ons with limited functionality typically fall within the low-to-mid five-figure range. Costs increase accordingly for more complex solutions involving deep system integration, custom logic, or advanced UI requirements. We would be happy to prepare a no-obligation quote based on your specific requirements.

We offer our customers reliable, long-term support based on individual agreements. This includes troubleshooting, updates when the basic software changes, and further development of the add-on as new requirements arise. The scope of support can be flexibly defined via maintenance and service contracts.

Our add-ons are generally designed to be intuitive and to integrate seamlessly into the base software's existing user interface, typically eliminating the need for extensive training. We provide a practical user manual upon request and are happy to offer user training for further support.

We ensure the quality of our add-ons through a multi-stage quality assurance process. This includes automated testing for both the frontend and backend, mandatory code reviews by a second team member, and continuous static code analysis to detect and remediate potential vulnerabilities. We aim for a minimum test coverage of 70% and adjust this to meet specific customer requirements as needed. Furthermore, we are currently undergoing ISO 9001 certification, which we expect to complete in 2025.
